Top artisan cheesemakers from around Oregon and the Pacific Northwest will gather again this year at Rogue Creamery in Central Point, Oregon on March 17, 2007 for the Oregon Cheese Festival. Hundreds of visitors will sample cow and goat’s milk cheeses from Oregon and California creameries including Fraga Farm, Juniper Grove Farm, Tillamook Cheese Co., Willamette Valley Cheese Co., Vella Cheese Co. and Rogue Creamery.
The Festival events will kick off on Friday March 16th with a "Meet the Cheesemakers Dinner,” which will be held at the Ashland Springs Hotel in Ashland, Oregon (just south of Central Point). The menu for this event will feature dishes made with cheese from festival participants paired with Southern Oregon wines and craft beers.
“This year’s Oregon Cheese Festival will be a spectacular celebration of artisan cheese made here in the Northwest,” says David Gremmels, co-owner of Rogue Creamery. “The dinner Friday night will give the public a chance to have an intimate conversation with the experts and then on Saturday we have a full day of tastings and demonstrations for all to enjoy.”
Other festival participants include Gary West Meats, Rising Sun Farms and Applegate Valley Artisan Breads. There will also be wine tasting featuring Cliff Creek Vineyards, Madrone Mountain Vineyards and Troon Vineyard as well as a hearty selection of craft beers from Rogue Ales.
The Oregon Cheese Festival will be open to the public Saturday, March 17th and Sunday March 18th, from 9:00am to 5:00pm at Rogue Creamery, 311 North Front St, Central Point, OR. For more information and/or tickets to the Cheesemaker’s dinner, call Rogue Creamery at 541.665.1155.
