.:. Los Angeles Times profiles California cheesemakers Today's LA Times (reg req'd) has an article called "California Cheeses: The Next Wave"about emerging artisan cheesemakers in California. As I've said before, the artisan cheese renaissance we're seeing in the Northwest is in fact a national phenomenon - cheesemakers are springing up all over the place. Among other things, the article asserts that the market - the consumer, really - has finally caught up with the early pioneers (Laura Chenel, et. al.) who started making great cheese in California decades before most people were interested. Now lots of people are paying attention!
