The 2009 Canadian Cheese Grand Prix is coming! Applications and submissions are due Tuesday January 27th, 2009 after which judges from all over Canada, including Allison Spurrell from Vancouver's Les Amis du Fromage, will convene to taste and rank the cheeses. Finalists and winners will be announced on March 9th, 2009. Held every other year (more or less), the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix is a grand celebration of Canadian cheeses. As in the US, the awards are typically dominated by the country's centers of cheese production..in the US that means Wisconsin and California, in Canada that means Quebec and Ontario. Nevertheless, past British Columbian finalists and/or winners include Gort's Gouda and Natural Pastures Cheese Co.
