The Dairy Farmers of Canada have announced the finalists in their semi-annual Canadian Grand Prix cheese competition. For the contest, cheesemakers across Canada entered their cheeses in a series of categories ranging from fresh cheeses to washed rinds to cheddar that were judged by a number of experts including Gurth Pretty, author of The Definitive Guide to Canadian Artisanal and Fine Cheeses and Allison Spurrell of Les Amis du Fromage in Vancouver, BC. This year's sole finalist from British Columbia is Island Bries by Little Qualicum Cheeseworks in the Soft Cheese w/ Bloomy Rind Category.
