Tillamook Cheese 100th AnniversaryCelebrate Tillamook County Creamery's 100th Anniversary this coming Friday and Saturday at two big cheese themed events! Friday, July 31, 2009 at Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland

This Friday from 10am-4pm, Tillamook will take over Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland with a whole bunch of free events - and cheese. Activities include sampling of Tillamook's special 3 year old anniversary cheddar (as well as other cheeses and, of course, cheese curds!) as well as samplings of Tillamook ice cream. Friday will also be your big opportunity to meet and have your picture taken with mascots Tilly the Cow and Loafy the Baby Loaf. There will also be plenty of kids activities like face painting and games as well, so come one, come all to this big cheese party!

The party continues on Saturday from 10am - 6pm at they Tillamook factory in Tillamook, Oregon. Join the crew at the plant for more opportunities to taste a whole variety of Tillamook cheeses and curds, as well as a variety of other local foods like mstards, meats and jams. Meet Dale Baumgartner and other Tillamook cheesemakers - and Tillie the Cow and Loafy the Baby Loaf will be there (it's where they live, isn't it?) as well. Kids activities include a petting zoo as well as a whole host of games and other fun things. Live music and cooking demonstrations by chef Gary Puetz, the Seafood Steward, round out the fun in Tillamook on Saturday.
