The World Cheese Awards were recently bestowed on the world's best cheeses. The overall World Champion award, given to the cheese deemed the best out of the 2,500 cheeses entered, was bestowed on Le Cendrillion, a surface ripened goat's milk cheese from Quebec. This was the first time a Canadian cheese has taken the World Champion prize at the World Cheese Awards competition.
Two Northwest cheesemakers won prizes in the competition - Estrella Family Creamery and Rivers Edge Chévre; see results below. Other winners included Beehive Cheese Co., Cypress Grove Chevre and Bellwether Farms.
