The Sixth Annual Oregon Cheese Festival will be held March 19-20th at Rogue Creamery in Central Point, Oregon. Friday night begins with a 'Meet the Cheesemakers' dinner at the historic Jacksonville Inn in nearby Jacksonville, Oregon. Each course of the dinner will feature artisan cheeses made by Guild members. Cheese Expert Max McCalman, author of Mastering Cheese, will be on hand to emcee the event, leading participants through each course and discussing the cheeses and wines. Also on hand will be most of Oregon's Cheesemakers, who will talk about their cheeses. Dinner tickets are $75 and can be ordered online here.
Then on Saturday, the real fun begins! Rogue Creamery will host the farmer's market style Festival (admission is $10) featuring Oregon cheesemakers alongside makers of other artisan products such as Applegate Valley Artisan Breads, Rogue Ales, Southern Oregon wineries such as Madrone Mountain Vineyards, Valley View Winery and more good stuff from the likes of Lille Belle Farms chocolatiers. Rogue Ales, Wandering Aengus Cider and the list goes on. Courses will be held throughout the day on a variety of topics including cheese and wine pairing. Chef Vitaley Paley of Paley's Place in Portland and author of The Paley's Place Cookbook: Recipes and Stories from the Pacific Northwest will also be on hand to offer some great tips on using and cooking with cheese.
