The 2010 American Dairy Goat Association Convention runs through this week in Tucson, Arizona. I had the privilege of being one of the judges for the cheese competition (more on that later). Judging took place this past Tuesday and Wednesday and the winners were announced this evening....so here's the scoop:
Overall Best in Show: Central Coast Creamery Goat Gouda
A goat's milk gouda with all of the rich caramel and butterscotch flavors you'd expect from a great aged gouda. Aged at least 5 mo.
1st Runner up: FireFly Farm Merry Goat Round
A creamy & rich bloomy rinded disk. Silky, buttery and mushroomy.
